Even though a number of globally top universities announced SAT and ACT as optional this year, the demand for these tests is yet very high. This is because the candidates believe that their scopes of selection will increase if they hold a high score in SAT or ACT. Nevertheless, it deserves mention that SAT and ACT are required for a number of courses in a number of universities. Let’s check the current scenario regarding the cancellation of SAT and ACT.

Is It Possible to Take SAT or ACT Right Now?

Due to the widespread of coronavirus, the SAT test centers as well as the exam centers of ACT were closed for a long time. These two tests have no at-home versions too. This fall, the conducting authorities of SAT and ACT have resumed the testing.

But the problem is a huge number of candidates were waiting during the closure of test centers. As a result all of them are now trying to register for SAT or ACT. This is the probable reason why the registration process itself becomes much complex and problematic.

Another problem is the test-centers cancellation due to the increasing number of Covid-19 positive cases. Altogether these factors arise unrest among the candidates. It is possible to register and take these test but both are pretty uncertain.

What will be the future of SAT and ACT?

Based on the current situation, or the increasing number of positive cases, it can be predicted that more SAT and ACT will be cancelled in the upcoming time. As per the report of New York Times, United States has over 13.3 million positive cases among which over 265,000 deaths are recorded.

Because of this, a number of high schools are not willing to allow the visitors on Saturdays. Now this Saturday is a test date of SAT and the coming Saturday is an exam date of ACT.

College Board and ACT both are releasing the documents about the centers which are closed completely. A few centers are open with a reduced capacity.
