Test centers for GMAT and GRE as well as the language proficiency tests like IELTS and TOEFL were closed amidst the outbreak of COVID-19 worldwide. During the lockdown, the conducting authorities kept testing the international candidates with the proctored exam. It was bliss for a few as they could take their test from home but several candidates found it inconvenient. Right now, the authorities are allowed to take the tests in the centers by following the safety rules. Yes, notifications are up for GMAT, IELTS, TOEFL, and GRE centers reopening in India. GMAT Updates on Reopening Test Centre

In India, after complete closure of the test centers for GMAT and Executive Assessment (EA), the test centers are open mostly open now and testing is resumed in these GMAT exam centers. However, a few centers are closed till now and these will be open once the situation is improved. Following are information about the closed GMAT exam centers in India:

  • GMAT centers of Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Raipur, and Chennai, the centers will be closed till 1st August.
  • Mumbai center will open after August 2.
  • Visakhapatnam center will open after August 10.
  • The Gurugram center will open after August 16.
  • Mysore center will open after August 17
  • Kolkata’s Brainware University Center will conduct test after August 18
  • Till September 1, Guwahati and Tiruchirappalli centers will remain closed
  • Till September 9, Kochi and Sura centers will remain closed
  • Pila center will remain closed till September 15
  • Vellore and Patiala centers will open after October 1

IELTS Updates on Test Center Reopening

The conducting authority of IELTS allowed the candidates to take IELTS Indicator for the time being to how much they are prepared for the actual test when the testing was suspended. Right now, almost all the centers for IELTS and IELTS for UK Visa (IELTS for UKVI) are reopened. Candidates can book their tests now and step closer to their dreams of study abroad.

TOEFL and GRE Updates on Test center reopening

ETS is the conducting authority of TOEFL and GRE. During the test center closure, ETS started TOEFL IBT special home edition and GRE At home test to help the candidates during a global pandemic. At present, almost half of the test centers are reopened and the candidates who faced problems to schedule their at-home GRE and TOEFL home edition can take their tests.

In India, the reopening of the centers depends on the state governments, and the candidates are required to follow the health guidelines issued by the state at the time of appearing in the test centers. Exam rescheduling fees till 31st august is waived. In case, the exam is canceled by ETS, there will not be any rescheduling charges.

Even though the exam centers are now open, the candidates and the staff have to follow the safety guidelines by wearing safety goods and maintaining proper hygiene. Candidates are not permitted inside the centers without the mask at any cost. Candidates cannot take off their masks at any cost – not even for the speaking test of the language proficiency exams. Plus, candidates have to follow social distancing throughout.
