The dates for MDS Admission 2017 in Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Panjab University have been announced by the university. The application process for the MDS program has started since April 10, 2017. Interested aspirants who wish to seek admission for the various MDS courses in Panjab University must apply first. The candidates will be admitted on the basis of their NEET MDS score which is the only entrance exam for medical and dental post-graduate programs all over India. The Prospectus cum Admission form is available for downloading on the official website www.dentalsciences.puchd.ac.in . The copy of the admission form can also be obtained from the dental institute. Only those applicants who submit the complete Admission Form along with the specified annexure and fee by due date will be included in the list of aspirants eligible to appear for counselling. The counselling process will be held for only those candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria as specified in the prospectus.  The last date for submission of the admission form is April 21, 2017.

The merit list of short-listed candidates will be displayed on the official website and notice board of the institute on April 25, 2017. The 1^st counselling session will be held on April 27, 2017.

How to Apply?

The admission form for Panjab University MDS program will be available on the official website and also at the dental institute. It is mandatory to fill up the admission form within the stipulated time. Applications will not be considered after April 21, 2017. The forms should be submitted at the office of the Principal of the institute. The admission form must be hand-written so candidates must make sure that the handwriting is legible. Aspirants can refer to the guidelines about filling up of the form and payment of fees as given below:

Step 1: Download Admission Form

Aspirants must download the application form from the website www.dentalsciences.puchd.ac.in . The admission form consists of 4 pages. Applicants must print the admission form on both sides of the paper that is available with the prospectus.

Step 2: General Information and Academic Qualifications

Candidates must fill up necessary details like personal information (aspirant’s name, parents’ name, date of birth, nationality, etc.), contact details (address for correspondence, mobile number, email ID, etc.), NEET MDS 2017 Roll number, Score and All India Rank (AIR) and other such qualification details.

Step 3: Declaration

The candidates must next sign the declarations given in the form. Some declarations also require signatures of the parents or guardian.

Candidates must attach required documents in the format mentioned in the prospectus.

Step 5: Payment

The fee for the Prospectus cum Admission form is INR 1,200 for the General category and INR 600 for SC/ ST/ PwD category. The fees must be paid via Demand Draft in favour of ‘Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh’ payable at Chandigarh. No other mode of payment is acceptable.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for admission in any MDS program in Panjab University is as decided by the authority. Eligibility for admission will be determined by the Admission Committee and aspirants cannot claim seat on the basis of NEET MDS 2017 AIR alone. Candidates must ensure that they fulfill the criteria before applying.

• Admission to Panjab University MDS program will be open to aspirants who have qualified NEET MDS 2017 and fulfill the eligibility criteria laid down by NEET MDS 2017.
• As per the guidelines of Dental Council of India (DCI), the minimum percentile of marks required to be eligible for admission to MDS courses shall be 50% for General Category, 45% for PwD aspirants and 40% for the candidates belonging to SC/ ST / and other Backward Classes.
• Eligibility will also be based on documents submitted along with the Panjab University admission form.

Important Highlights

Some important guidelines regarding the admission process are given below. Aspirants must go through these guidelines carefully.

• Aspirants must ensure that their BDS degree is recognized as per provisions of the DCI before applying.
• Applicants must retain the copy of Prospectus cum Admission Form with them. They should read the instructions, rules and regulations carefully and comply with all the instructions therein strictly.
• Changes in the schedule for admission or counselling shall be notified through the official website. No aspirant will be informed individually. Hence, they must browse the website from time to time to know about the necessary updates.
• Candidates must submit original documents and certificates after being allotted a seat at the time of counselling. These documents will be returned to the candidate only after the completion of the course.
• The allotment of MDS specialty to the aspirants for admission will be made by the Admission Committee on the basis of merit determined by NEET MDS 2017 and the choice of the specialty opted by the aspirant.
• Merit list for each category will be made separately. The merit list of short-listed candidates for Panjab University MDS program will be displayed on April 25, 2017. The counselling process will begin from April 27, 2017 and the schedule will be uploaded on the website. Selected candidates must attend the counselling as per schedule in person. No representative of the candidate will be entertained.
• The aspirants whose name appears in the merit list will have to undergo medical examination by the Medical Board of the institute on the same day or the next day of their counselling session. Only those students who are found to be medically fit shall be granted admission.
• Fees must be paid after acceptance of offered seat at the time of counselling. If candidates do not deposit the prescribed fees in full amount, their candidature will be cancelled and their seat will be offered to the next candidate in order of merit.
• The fee is to be deposited on the day of counseling in the form of Demand Draft (DD) drawn in the name of ‘Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh’ payable at Chandigarh.
• All aspirants will be considered for admission in General Category. The candidates that are interested to be considered under any other category must mention their category in the admission form. No applicant will be considered for a category based seat if it is not mentioned so in the form.
• If candidates wish to claim seats reserved for categories, they must do so by supporting the claim by submitting appropriate documents issued by competent authority.
• Seats reserved for ‘Internal Faculty only with BDS qualification’ will be offered strictly on the basis of merit of NEET 2017.
• PwD candidates will be considered for admission as per rules laid down by the DCI. Aspirants with locomotory disability of lower limbs between 50-70% shall fill up 3% seats of the annual sanctioned intake capacity. If in case the said seats remain vacant then the seat will be filled up by candidates with locomotory disability of lower limbs between 40-50%. If seats are vacant even after this then they will be included in the general category.
• A monthly stipend of INR 10,000/- will be paid to the candidates for the three years duration of the course from the date of joining the MDS program.
