Delhi University (DU) will be establishing School of Climate Change and Sustainability (DSCC&S) under Institute of Eminence (IoE) Scheme considering climate change research as a priority.
An acclaimed Environmental Scientist, Professor C R Babu will head DSCC & S as an honorary director.
As per a statement by Delhi University, he founded the Environmental Teaching and Research at the University of Delhi.
Alongside, Professor Inderjit Singh who is an eminent ecologist of International repute will be the Joint Director of DSCC&S.
The statement further added that the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) has financially supported the initiative of Delhi University through its Institute of Eminence Scheme.
This will aid in conducting cutting-edge research focusing on national development that will collaterally turn this varsity into a world-class university.
The statement by the University of Delhi also added, “DSCC&S will take up research in priority areas like how to make our cities climate resilient? how to achieve sustainability in the face of environmental challenges?”
The school plans to generate more manpower to monitor advanced sustainable development technologies to be implemented in energy- generation or resource-recycling.
To ensure such developments to be sustainable, the research projects will incorporate the management of solid waste and waste-water and resource enhancement procedures.
