Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) directs schools to provide another opportunity to students of classes 9 and 11 who failed in annual examinations.

CBSE has published an official notification directing the same to all its affiliated schools in the country. 

The notification was put up by May 13, asking schools to extend the opportunity even if they were furnished earlier.

As per CBSE’s official statement of June 30, 2020, it has come to the notice of CBSE that some of its affiliated schools are not following norms. As a fact, many schools are not providing a second opportunity to its failed students.

Besides, CBSE has cancelled all pending board examinations 2020 for 10th and 12th. Those papers will be evaluated based on internal assessment. 

This notice clarifies, while hearing the May 13 notification, Delhi High Court did not reject it. Rather the court directed schools to diligently follow up on such improvements.

May 13 notification declared that schools need to range for improvement exams for Class 9 and 11 detained students. These exams will be a one-time opportunity and to be scheduled beforehand, giving students enough time to prepare. 

Meanwhile, CBSE plans to reduce syllabus for 2020-2021 exams by 33%. The boards have notified schools on curriculum change for Classes 1-8, whereas talks on Classes 9-12 curricula are ongoing. 

On proceeding with improvement exams, CBSE suggested schools to opt for online, offline or any innovative mechanism to promote students based on their performance.

Additionally, all the CBSE 10 and 12 Results 2020 will be released by July 15.
