Anna University is thinking of conducting online examinations for Final Year engineering students because of the uncertainty to conduct pen-paper based exams.

Almost 1Lakh engineering students are due to complete their degree course in the state.

The university is expecting almost 70% students to sit for the online exams. But the students unable to avail the online mode will be given the option of offline exam as well.

"We cannot wait indefinitely and have to conduct exams. We are considering conducting online exams for final year students,” said M K Surappa, vice-chancellor, Anna University

It has also been notified by the University that if a student fails in online exams, they may get a second change to write in offline mode.” If only 30% students opt for offline exams, we can accommodate them in hostels and exam halls by maintaining social distancing norms.”, the VC said.

The online mode will have artificial intelligence features to prevent foul play. The questions will be in MCQ format.
