Applied Linguistics differs from Linguistics in general mainly with respect to its explicit orientation towards practical, everyday problems related to language and communication (AILA), as well as language teaching and learning.?
  • This Applied Linguistics?programme from the?University College Dublin?comprises taught modules and a minor thesis, and can also be the basis for a structured PhD programme. It is an interdisciplinary programme with input from languages, linguistics, TESOL, sociology, social policy, education, and cognitive science. Parallel to the MA in Applied Linguistics, the School offers a Graduate Diploma in Applied Linguistics (60 credits) which contains all course elements of the MA, apart from the 30 credit thesis.
