- Mathematics is man's answer to the complexity of nature. Through them, one can both understand complex processes better and make well-founded predictions. Often people are not aware of how much mathematics surrounds us in everyday life, e.g. in the cell phone, in the car, on CDs, in the weather forecast etc.
- Mathematics does not convey views that require interpretation. It builds on generally accepted statements (axioms) and logical conclusions.
- During the course, a feel for the essentials is developed. This is accompanied by the development of the ability to apply mathematical methods and structured thinking to complex problems.
