• History is a share subject within the two-subject bachelor's program of the Faculty of Cultural Studies. History does not investigate the past, but the existence of the present. That means she asks what historical foundations world is based on - even if students are not aware of it.
  • Whether it is inventions of the ancient Greeks such as politics, democracy, historiography or Roman law, Christian and Islamic foundations of the empire or the secular departure from religion, local independence or the university - the formative effect on the present does not depend on how old the concepts and institutions are. Therefore, in the history course in Paderborn, the older epochs of old and medieval history are taken into account as much as the early modern and newer or recent history.
