The course of study requires a degree from the University of Paderborn's two-subject bachelor's program with the subject of English-language literature and culture or a teaching degree (all school types) with the subject of English from the University of Paderborn or a degree that includes the competencies described below:

• Know and apply in-depth work in literary studies
• Know and apply practical skills in the area of ??English sentence and text grammar
• Know and apply the history, geographical conditions, political, social and cultural conditions of English-speaking countries as well as related identity constructions
• Analyze and present questions, problems and methods of literary and cultural/regional studies
• Overview knowledge in the history of English-language literatures, in-depth knowledge of a larger selection of literary works, literary theory and methods of literary studies
• In-depth knowledge and practical skills in the area of ??English sentence and text grammar
• In-depth knowledge of and engagement with cultural studies topics and theories.
