The bachelor's program in Philosophy offered at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich introduces fundamental philosophical methods and familiarizes with central problems and positions of philosophy in their full range. Upon successful completion of the course, which normally lasts six semesters, the degree “Bachelor of Arts (BA)” is awarded. The course mediates in particular
- the ability to critically discuss philosophical questions and to analyze and assess complex arguments ;
- the ability to formalize issues and problems from a logical point of view ;
- the hermeneutical skills to maintain, critical use of sources and philosophical texts from their historical and systematic presuppositions considering a state of research interpret ;
- the ability to synthesize and classify philosophical positions and methods in overarching contexts as well as to transfer learned analytical methods to new detailed problems in individual philosophical approaches as well as to non-technical problems.
