• The bachelor major North American Studies provides basic knowledge of the social, cultural, literary, economic and political history and present of the United States and Canada. After completing their studies, the graduates of the degree program should be able to analyze social, political and cultural circumstances and developments both in terms of current social conditions and historical backgrounds.
  • They should learn not to look at the North American situation in isolation, but to relate it to European and global conditions. Scientific competences in the areas of historiography, text, social and cultural analysis are imparted, which are related by the students to all topics relevant to North America and can be used in corresponding fields: in science, education, media, business, politics or in cultural exchange.
  • In contrast to most other universities that combine Anglistic and Americanist content, the planned course focuses on the history, society, economy, culture, media and literature of North America.
