The BA course in English Studies is based on literature, culture and linguistics and is divided into 4 main areas:

  • English literary studies deal with the literature of Great Britain and Ireland since the 16th century and with literary theory.

  • Cultural, Idea and Social History (KIS) deals with philosophical, cultural, artistic, social and political developments in the British Isles.

  • New English-language literatures and cultures (NELK) deals with the English-language literatures of India, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the Caribbean and Pacific as well as postcolonial studies
