The BA course in English Studies is based on literature, culture and linguistics and is divided into 4 main areas:

English literary studies deal with the literature of Great Britain and Ireland since the 16th century and with literary theory.

Cultural, Idea and Social History (KIS) deals with philosophical, cultural, artistic, social and political developments in the British Isles.

New English-language literatures and cultures (NELK) deals with the English-language literatures of India, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the Caribbean and Pacific as well as postcolonial studies
