General and Comparative Literature (AVL) offers students a literary education that goes far beyond dealing with individual languages and cultural areas. It deals with the interrelationships between the different languages and cultures, media, literature, and poetics of the world. Based on this interest, the AVL shows interfaces to other subjects such as philosophy, art history, theater, film and media studies, law and religious studies, ethnology, linguistics, and political science.
