The 2-subject master's degree in "Communication Science" is dedicated to researching intra- and intercultural communication in the context of social, political, economic and technological transformation processes from a theoretical and methodological perspective. In a broad sense, it is research-oriented and prepares students to conceive and independently work on a practical or theoretical problem as part of a communication science research work (master's thesis). 

The learning progression of the compulsory modules deepens and expands the analytical and theoretical knowledge and professionalizes the handling and reflection of the analytical instruments. The advanced modules deal with the aspects "knowledge and society", “Multimodality and Communication Technologies” and “Cultural and Social Diversity” different levels of aggregation of communication and different fields of practice. 

Students have the opportunity to choose between different areas of intra- and intercultural communication in the context of social, political, economic, and technological fields of practice in order to deepen research or professional profile that corresponds to their interests. The involvement of the students in the concrete research practice takes place via the advanced seminars of the advanced modules, which take up theoretical and practical research current scientific activities at the institute.
