The Energy Science course provides an interdisciplinary understanding of the current state of research on energy conversion and storage as well as a general overview of the associated technologies and their sustainability. In order to anchor this knowledge, the students acquire extensive knowledge in physics and chemistry. The graduates should also have experienced the international dimension of the energy issue in order to be able to make responsible decisions in their professional life.
The course offers a wide range of basic training and addresses the following topics:
- Scientific fundamentals for the provision of usable energy: fossil fuels, nuclear energy, solar energy, wind energy, regenerative energy technology, residual heat, energy-relevant materials
- Energy management: energy efficiency, energy transport, energy storage, sustainability
- Energy and society: environmental compatibility, economic efficiency, social acceptance
