The Bachelor's degree in "Metallurgy and Metal Forming" provides general engineering training in the field of metallurgy and forming technology for the production and processing of metallic materials. Through interdisciplinary and cross-system courses, the students should acquire system competence and the ability to solve problems in an interdisciplinary manner. An international focus on the one hand adapts engineering training to the globalization of the markets and on the other hand, makes studying easier for foreign students.

The main focus of the vocational specialization in metallurgy and forming technology is on the one hand the technologies and processes for the extraction of metallic materials, which are important in industrial practice. In addition to the technologies of steel production and processing, this includes the technologies of non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, copper, magnesium, nickel, titanium, etc. These base metals and their alloys are in progressive development with new requirements for future materials from all areas of technology.

On the other hand, the forming manufacturing processes of primary and secondary forming with their property-determining process technologies are a focus. This includes both the hot and cold forming processes in the iron and steel industry and the non-ferrous metal industry as well as the forming processes in manufacturing technology in the field of sheet metal and cold massive forming. The training is on the one hand material-oriented and on the other hand production-oriented.
