The course targets multiple angles in linguistics as it focuses on the structure and function of language, above all the English language, with etymological theories, language progress and acquisition, and computer linguistics.

In the course modules, primary texts from different genres and times in American and English literature are explored using theories and models and well-thought-out within their contexts. The course is designed keeping in mind that the basics of teaching English as a foreign language is at heart and other areas such as cultural studies, and English pedagogy are incorporated.

The ethos of the course is to make the Undergraduates should have fun reading and have critical deliberations during their studies. Additionally they must also possess preparedness for examining difficult theoretical texts and composing longer texts in the form of homework and papers.
