Introduction

Bachelor of Commerce is an undergraduate degree in Commerce and is offered at Colleges all across the country. The duration for a B.Com. course is 3 years and students who have successfully passed their Higher Seconday Examination can get admission in the program. B.Com. is one of the popular undergraduate courses among students. B.Com. in India is available in three modes – B.Com. (pass course), B.Com. (Honors) and B.Com. (Vocational).

History of the Course

History of Commerce as a subject of education started with establishment of educational institutes by the British in Colonial era. Some pioneers in the area of commerce education were Commerce College in Calicut and Presidency College in Calcutta. Generally an entrance is held for admission to this program.
  2. MBA – Master of Business Administration or MBA is one of the popular options for Bachelor of Commerce graduates. A B.Com. degree gives an edge to MBA aspirants as some of the subjects taught in B.Com. are repeated in the curriculum during the first year of MBA.
  3.  CA – Chartered Accountancy or CA can be pursued with or after the B.Com. course. A background and understanding of commerce helps in the completion of the CA course. Since Accounts is a compulsory paper for B.Com. students, it is helpful when pursuing CA.
  4. CS – Company Secretaryship or CS is another popular option and can be pursued along with a b.Com degree. CS prepares an individual for regulatory roles in an organization.

Both Sharda University and IIMT offer decent CSE programs. Sharda University, Greater Noida is ranked 65th for private engineering by India Today 2019. Whereas, IIMT, Greater Noida is ranked 111 by Times 2020.

Admissions:

Sharda University-

  • It organizes an entrance exam known as SUAT.

  • Candidates with 60 % aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics are eligible to apply for this entrance.

  • Applicants who are rank holders in JEE-Main/UPSEE will be exempted from SUAT. Shortlisted candidates are called for a personal interview.

  • The cut-offs for applying CSE AT Sharda is; 60% during the 10th, 70% during the 12th 300000 ranks in JEE Main, and 50000 ranks in UPSEE.

IIMT-

  • In the case of IIMT, the selection process is only based on the rank obtained in UPSEE, and for management quota; admission will be based on the marks obtained in the qualifying exam or respective entrance exam as per University.

  • Minimum 45% marks in 12th and rank obtained in UPSEE is the cut off for selection at IIMT.

At Sharda University, the total fee structure is 7.49 lakhs for the B. Tech program in CSE. Whereas at IIMT, the total fee structure is 4.34 lakhs for the B. Tech program in CSE.

Placement:

  • Sharda University has witnessed the average salary package of 12 lakhs and the highest salary package of 54 lakhs.

  • IIMT has witnessed 15.5 lakhs as the highest salary package and 3.5 lakhs as the average salary package.

After comparing both the universities on the basis of different parameters, it can be concluded that Sharda is surely one of the best universities to apply for the CSE program. The placement salary is quite higher than the IIMT. Also, Sharda University holds a higher rank than IIMT.
