Note: Those who get admission for M.Phil. will not be permitted to take admission for Ph.D. in the same year and an undertaking in this regard has to be submitted.
Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. programmes:
You should have passed Master Degree Examination with at least 50% marks or equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA) of this University or an equivalent degree recognized by University of Calicut.
If you are working in National Laboratories- Universities/Institutes/ Government/ Private Organization nominated/sponsored by the respective employer and you should have a Post Graduate Degree with 50% marks then you are also eligible for his programme.
Percentage of marks for foreign candidates must have a Master degree will be 50% marks or equivalent GPA.
Candidates belonging to SC/ST category and those having 40% or more physical disability, require only a pass in the qualifying PG degree examination.
Those who are exempted from Entrance Examination (except JRF candidates) shall register online remitting a fee of Rs.550 (SC/ST Rs.220/) and submit the print out of the application along with documents required to the University departments concerned on or before 15.12.2016(tentative). The entrance exempted candidates need not appear for the Entrance Examination.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Phil Programmes:
You should have passed Master's Degree in the subject concerned or any other relevant subject approved by the Board of Studies of this University or equivalent degree of any other Indian or Foreign Universities with not less than 55% marks are eligible to apply. There will be 5% marks relaxation in qualifying exam for OEC/ OBC candidates.
In the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category and teachers under FIP Scheme, a pass in the qualifying examination is sufficient.
Note: 50% seats will be reserved for students and less 50% seats will be reserved for teachers under FIP Scheme in any university department.
Admission to Ph.D. is based on ranking in the entrance examination conducted by research Department and the marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
About Entrance Test
The entrance exam conducted by Research Departments on December 17, 2016(tentative). The Candidates who secure minimum 50% marks (35% marks for SC/ST candidates) in the entrance examination are eligible to consider for admission to Ph.D. programme.
Exemption from Entrance Test
Note: Those candidates who are exempted from entrance test can seek admission any time in a year.
Admission to M.Phil is based on an entrance examination conducted by the Department and the marks obtained in the qualifying examination. The rank list shall be prepared based on an index prepared, by giving equal weightage to the qualifying examination and entrance examination.
About Entrance Test
The entrance exam will be conducted by University department for M.Phil. programme on December 18, 2017(tentative). The entrance exam will consist of objective and descriptive type questions of 50 marks each, and the duration of exam will be two hours. The Candidates who secure minimum 50% marks (35% marks for SC/ST candidates) in the entrance examination are eligible to consider for admission to M. Phil programme.
Teachers of affiliated colleges are exempted from the entrance examination under FIP Scheme.
