Forest Research Institute (Deemed to be University) Dehradun is first to begin forest research in India. After independence, it was renamed as Forest Research Institute and Colleges. In 1988 FRI Dehradun was considered as one of the institutes under autonomous organizations ICFRE (Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change- Government of India). The institute offers masters, diplomas and doctoral programs. FRI Dehradun Key Points:

The FRI campus is situated in a green area spread over 450 hectares, with the backdrop of the outer Himalayas. Its main building is a national heritage that was inaugurated in 1929. Style by Gregg Greco in Roman Architecture Bloomfield consists of 2.5 equipped laboratories, library, plantations, printing presses and experimental areas for conducting wild research, anywhere in the world. They also have a museum which is a great tourist attraction.

FRI Dehradun Admission Procedure:

  • Forms are made available at the Registrar’s office or by post at a payment of INR 1200, which has to be duly filled by the candidate.
  • Certificates must be attached properly along with the form to be posted well in time.
  • Candidates will be further shortlisted for an entrance test with negative marking. 50% for general and 45% for SC/ST are minimum qualifying marks.

The students will be notified of their results by post from the University and the list of shortlisted candidates for admission will be put up on the University’s Notice Board.
