Ques
What is the procedure for taking admission in PSG college of technology through Lateral Entry?

● Top Answer By Tamalika Datta on 15 May 21

Ans
For taking admission to PSG College of Technology through lateral entry, there are two main ways. The first is through counseling and the second through management quota. A detailed description of the processes of both ways is listed below. For admission through counseling, you have to register for the counseling session that is conducted at Alagappa Chettiar University at Karaikudi. The chances of getting a call for counseling depend on your final year diploma result percentage. To be very clear, you will receive a call for the first day of counseling, or have a rank of at least 10, have very high chances of getting admission at PSG college of technology. For general category students, a percentage of at least 96% is required for PSG. For BC or MBC students, a score above 94% seems to be a good enough score and for SC/ SCA/ ST, it is 92% and above in general. Coming to the second way, students from any state can take admission in PSG College of Technology through management quota. The fees for management quota seats at PSG vary from Rs. 5 to Rs. 10 Lakhs donation amount, which is quite a huge sum. The application for admission of lateral entry students is issued at all government institutes in all districts of Tamil Nadu and is mostly released during mid of May. The application cost is free for SC/ST students provided they submit an attested copy of the community certificate during the time of application filling. The procedure mentioned above is applicable for all of Tamil Nadu, having similar processes of application and admission.

Ques
Which is the better college for pursuing mechanical engineering in Tamil Nadu, PSG or NIT - Trichy?

● Top Answer By Brijesh Viswanathan on 06 Sept 21

Ans
One of my friends studied in the PSG Mechanical branch. In his opinion, both the colleges are well known and quite famous for Mechanical Engineering. Let me state some facts about them which might help you decide. NIT Trichy holds a certain advantage over PSG.  It is considered one of the top 5 NITs. It has earned recognition not only in India but also globally. In NIT Trichy you will get much more opportunities and the proper exposure.  PSG is not bad but while comparing it with NIT Trichy, it gets more leverage.  In PSJ the faculty members are really good in their respective fields.  In PSG students mostly like to learn their subjects by themselves and are independent of the teachers.  NIT Trichy has all the things required for such a core branch, like Good faculty members, excellent academics, internships, connection with industries, placement statistics, etc.  All this makes NIT Trichy a better option for Mechanical Engineering. Categories Mechanical Engineering at PSG Mechanical Engineering at NIT Trichy Course Fee 2 lakh 5.65 lakh Highest CTC 9 LPA 15 LPA Average CTC 5 LPA 9 LPA Recruiting Companies Caterpillar, Bajaj, Nissan, L&T, etc. L&T, Reliance, GE, Tata, etc. NIT Trichy develops your physical as well as holistic personality. It makes you confident with all the extracurricular activities it has to offer. Nit Trichy would be better overall and will definitely help you grow as an individual.

Ques
What are the pros and cons of hostel life at PSG Tech?

● Top Answer By Rudrashish Bose on 23 Jun 21

Ans
According to some of my classmates staying at the PSG Hostel, they offer a home-like stay and the best facilities that you expect from a hostel. You are going to love the experience with your friends and hostel mates. Pros : There are fewer restrictions but the wardens, caretakers are very friendly. You can stay in the hostel even during your college timings. You can change your room if you have some problem without any hassle. The mess food has a variety of foods which are tasty as well as healthy. They have different food for people from different regions so you have a broad range to choose your food from. Big grounds full of greenery. The TV and gaming room can be accessed anytime. From 2nd year you can go out on Saturdays. Different festivals are celebrated. Facilities like gym, library, high-speed wifi are also provided. Cons : Girls have to enter the hostel premises by 6:30 pm Girls don’t get to go out regularly on weekends Girls can only go home on alternate weekends It is strict for girls mainly and for boys, there are no such limitations or strictness.
