As far as the course B.Com (Hons.) is concerned, both the colleges, Gargi or SBSC are good in their own ways.
The Faculty of both the colleges are well experienced and cooperative. The only difference is that Gargi is an all girls college unlike the other.
If you want to choose between them, it is preferable you go for Gargi. Being a girl's college the experience you will be getting there will be quite different, considering the ambience.
SBCS is also good but Gargi has better placements, as many top companies take part in their placement program. Gargi also has a better position in DU in terms of Drama, Debate, cultural programs, extra-curriculars, etc.
Categories | Gargi College | SBSC |
Course Fee | INR 24,000 | INR 23,000 |
Highest CTC | 19.5 LPA | 12 LPA |
Average CTC | 8 LPA | 7-8 LPA |
Placement Percentage | 90% | 80% |
Therefore if you want more exposure from the college both in academics and extracurriculars, then Gargi would be a better choice.
According to the reviews online, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce (SGGSCC) is a very well maintained institution. They have a proper infrastructure with a good faculty and student crowd. Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (SBSC) is also academically a good institute.
It is suggested that you do not go for Dyal Singh College (DSC) but opt for anyone among the other two mentioned.
Between SGGSCC and SBSC make your choice based on the location. If you belong to South Delhi, Noida or Gurgaon, then choose SBSC. If you are from any other part of Delhi choose SGGSCC.
If you are from an outstation choose SGGSCC as overall living cost in North Delhi is cheaper than South Delhi and you can also stay near North Campus which will help you interact with a much more diverse set of people.
Shaheed Bhagat Singh College has a very good English department and is one of the best departments in the city.
They have an amazing faculty and the professors are equally talented. The DU English faculty has been rated as one of the top 100 departments in the world, so opting for a degree in Literature from any DU college will be worthwhile.
Apart from that huge fests and other cultural events are organized. The management staff is youthful and has no scope of miscommunication between them and the students. The college has a state-of-the-art computerized library with over 65,000 books and 70 journals, so there are no lags considering studies or reference material you need as a student. So, go for English Hons. at SBSC without any doubt.
Choose KMC or Ramjas college over SBSC because these are better options. When it comes to academics KMC and Ramjas are definitely better than SBSC. There are reasons why the required cutoff for these colleges is more than SBSC. KMC and Ramjas also have better rankings. Many times these colleges were featured among the top 10 colleges in India. Also, if you want to pursue higher studies like M.A in Economics from DSE, then being from DSE will help. As the student crowd is more competitive at the north campus.
Choosing either Kirori Mal College or Shaheed Bhagat Singh College depends on your convenience and future plans. Both are quite reputed. I have a few friends from SBSC and their experience with the college has been great.
Here are some of the highlights of SBSC.
Overall, SBSC can be a decent option for pursuing your B.Com degree. However, you should always give preference to the course over college. So, choose the institute that offers a better program for your choice of course.
Among the mentioned two colleges, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (SBSC) will be a better choice for B.Com (Hons.).
Categories | B.Com at SBSC | B.Com at DSC |
Course Fee | INR 23,000 | INR 27,000 |
Placement Percentage | 80-90% | 78% |
Highest CTC | 15 LPA | 20 LPA |
Average CTC | 8 LPA | 4.8 LPA |

Dyal Singh College (DSC) is good but when compared to SBSC, it is more of a second option for commerce students after SBSC.
One of my friends studied at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (SBSC). It is considered to be one of the best commerce colleges of Delhi University.
Their Economics department shares more or less the similar kind of attention as the commerce department. The college is also renowned for its student crowd, which is said to be the best in the university at par with Delhi College of Arts and Commerce (DCAC).
Unlike the other commerce departments, placements of the Economics department is comparatively less. But it is gradually getting better with more exposure. Students here mostly study and learn on their own rather than depending on the faculty. So, you have to keep these points in mind before getting admission here.
Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (SBSC) is well known for its commerce courses. It is considered the best commerce college of Delhi University. B.Com is really good here with proper academics and placement records.
Categories | B.Com at SBSC |
Course Fee | INR 23,000 |

Average CTC | 8 LPA |

Therefore SBSC is a really good option for pursuing B.Com Honours.
Both colleges belong to the same league. However, for a B.Com degree, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College is better. It has a better faculty base for Commerce. It also offers better gender diversity.
Although JMC has good faculty for B.Com, it’s not better than SBSC. JMC has a vast campus but there are not many hangout places or food joints, etc. Overall, SBSC is definitely a better option for doing B.Com.
One of my friends studied in Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (SBSC). According to him it is a really great institution with its equal share of academics and extracurricular activities.
Here are some things you should know about it:
Overall the campus is really great with all the necessary facilities provided to the students, to build themselves up and become their best self.
