  • The Diploma in Computer Programmer is a 2-year program at Lambton College.
  • The program offers students the opportunity to study current trends in web technologies, computer programming, database, project management, and mobile development.

  • The student to faculty ratio is 57:1 which bridges the gap between faculty and students.
  • Students develop deep content knowledge as well as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication skills.
  • The student will be capable of the following skills by the end of the term include:
    • Students have knowledgeable in the implementation of Web applications that incorporate HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, AngularJS, JSON, and AJAX
    • Students learn to design, model, implementation, and maintenance of databases using Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2
    • Knowledgeable in the development of applications that utilize Oracle PL/SQL
    • Students also learn the development of three-tier Web applications using programming languages such as Java and ASP.NET C#
    • Students are also able to develop Mobile applications.
  • This program uses the 7-1-7 model based on seven weeks of classes; a study week; followed by another seven weeks of classes. 
  • During the spring/summer term, classes may be offered in a compressed format where students take a set of classes in the first seven weeks (Session I) and a second set of classes in the next seven weeks (Session II). 

Student Responsibilities

  • Course and program delivery schedules are proposed and subject to change for each intake. Students are required to bring their own laptop with wireless capability.
  • Students are advised to bring an official copy of their most recent police clearance, driver's license and vaccination record from their home country.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students must have a GPA of 2.8 or greater out of 4.
  • Students may have one of the degrees:
    • A university degree or 
    • College diploma or
    • Advanced diploma
  • Students must have O.S.S.D. (Ontario Secondary School Diploma) or equivalent.
  • Grade 12 English C or U is compulsory for this program.
  • Grade 11 or 12 Mathematics C or U.
  • The admissions process is competitive and meeting the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee admission.

Work Experience Eligibility:

  • An acceptable combination of related work experience and post-secondary education as judged by the College to be equivalent at the college level.

English Language proficiency:

  • Applicants from India, China, Vietnam, Philippines, and Pakistan should note that IELTS/TOEFL the only proficiency score accepted by the Study Direct Stream (SDS) program.
  • Meeting the minimum English requirements does not guarantee admission. Students with higher English proficiency scores will receive priority in the admission assessment process.

  • Resume/CV: Outline of academic achievements and/or awards, publications, relevant work and/or volunteer experience.
  • Academic Documents: Submit copies of official transcripts from post-secondary institutions attended.
  • Sample of written work: Student has to write something interesting as their sample essay in the application form.
  • Statement of Interest: Reasons or intentions for pursuing studies in this program, including a description of prior experience.
  • Two confidential letters of recommendation: Referees (Teachers, guidance counselors, or Professors) should comment on academics and that references should submit along with the application system.
  • Proof that students have enough money to support themselves during their stay in Canada.
