- Diploma in Sport Administration at Georgian College is offered as 2 years (4 semesters) program.
- It is an on-campus program offered on both a full-time basis only.
- Students develop the knowledge, skills, and experience to succeed within the sports industry.
- The fundamentals of business administration are introduced through courses such as:
- Accounting
- Marketing
- Technology
- Research
- Entrepreneurship.
- Operations in sport organizations are explored through the curriculum in fundraising, sponsorship, program planning, leagues, tournament organizing, and scheduling, fitness, outdoor recreation, and facilities.
- In addition to the theoretical components of the program, practical experience is obtained through community leadership opportunities and field placements.
- In the first year and throughout the program, students will have an opportunity to attend and network at industry conferences like the Primetime Sports Management Conference and Trade Show.
- Software partnerships with MBSportsWeb and Statstrack will give students hands-on experience creating team schedules and sites, as well as the ability to track, manage, and measure game performance.
- Students have to complete the field placement as an NHL prospect scout with the Arizona Coyotes and receive industry-specific certifications, e.g. National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).
- Graduates of this program may be eligible for entry-level positions within amateur athletic associations, professional sports organizations, sport governing bodies, regional, provincial, etc.
