• Certificate in Dental Assisting at Georgian College is offered as 1 year (3 semesters) program.
  • It is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis only.
  • Students in this program prepare to assume positions as certified dental assistants, level II, and experience a variety of practical experiences including placements in the Georgian College Oral Health Clinic and in the community.
  • Students also learn to fabricate dental appliances and manipulate a variety of dental materials.
  • The Dental Assisting Program at Georgian College is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada.
  • The graduate of this program will be eligible to write the National Dental Assisting Examining Board exam (NDAEB). 
  • Placement agencies require an up-to-date clear criminal reference check and vulnerable sector check prior to going out on placement. Students should obtain their criminal references three months prior to placement.
  • Students are advised that in addition to a 4-week placement in semester three, there is also a 4 to 5-day placement at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry in Semester 2 for the Fall intake, and in Semester 3 for the January intake.  
  • Students must have a clear, up-to-date immunization record in compliance with the Public Hospitals Act.
  • To graduate from this program, the passing weighted average for promotion through each semester is 60%. 
  • Graduates may find work in a general or specialty dental practice, a dental hygiene practice, a denturism practice, a community oral health clinic, or a public health unit.
  • The average salary goes up to 45,000 USD after completion of this program.
