• The Bachelor of Physical Education and Coaching at Douglas College is offered as 4 years or 8-term teaching program.
  • It is an on-campus program offered on both full time and part-time basis.
  • Students have to successfully complete 128 credits.
  • The Bachelor of Physical Education and Coaching (BPEC) prepares students to become physical education teachers, community sports coaches, or fitness professionals.
  • The curriculum includes fieldwork placements, leadership courses, and labs in anatomy, physiology, exercise physiology, and biomechanics.
  • Graduates can apply directly into the fifth year at SFU, UBC, or other universities to complete a teaching credential.
  • Students get the opportunities to apply for 2 more courses such as:
    • Bachelor of Physical Education and Coaching: Kinesiology Concentration
    • Bachelor of Physical Education and Coaching: Health Promotion Concentration
  • This program also meets admission requirements for the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists.
  • Students can complete co-operative education credits as part of their studies and gain paid work experience in their career field. 
  • Students can apply after they have completed their first semester of study in the BPEC program. Planning for a co-op placement in their summer semester starts in January of that year.
  • Students may have job opportunities as Aerobics Instructor, Athletic Coach, Athletic Trainer, College Instructor/Professor, Camp Director, etc.
