Acadia University offers a 12-month program leading to the degree of Master of Arts (M.A.) in Sociology. The Department of Sociology specializes in development and political economy, gender and aging, work and occupations, methodology, and social theory.Students participate in an eight-month schedule of courses, seminars, and thesis preparation that includes some opportunity to gain teaching experience. The remaining four-months are devoted to the completion of a thesis. The M.A. program includes the successful completion of two and a half required courses, including graduate theory, graduate methodology, and a graduate seminar, as well as the completion of a Master's thesis.
