• This course focuses on developing the practical skills and knowledge required to work as deck watchkeeper on board vessels. Students will learn to perform various tasks in relation to cargo handling, vessel stability and manoeuvring, equipment checking and maintenance, operational quality and safety.
  • In addition, students will learn to communicate using standard marine vocabulary, visual signalling and other maritime equipment. Students will learn to determine position of the vessel by using radar and other bridge equipment. Students will be taught how to measure and observe weather conditions and interpret and apply these to Watchkeeping.
