On successful completion of the program students will have:

  • Enhanced ability to assist in transition from engineering to management with skills integrating both disciplines
  • Advanced knowledge of economics and/or management fundamentals to undertake projects in the area of engineering management
  • Advanced understanding of modern management tools and approaches
  • Advanced skills in managing in one or more of fundamental management areas (people, finance, information, organization)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other engineering and management professionals and with the community at large; to express opinions, make statements with fairness and honesty on the basis of adequate knowledge and in good faith towards the community, clients, employers and colleagues
  • Advanced capacity to undertake identification of complex engineering or management problems, their formulation and solution
  • Ability to function effectively as an individual, or as a team member in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams applying specialised knowledge and expert judgement to engineering management tasks
  • Apply decision making skills that incorporate understanding of ethical, cultural and/or global issues
