The course objectives are:

to provide advanced in-depth knowledge in a single area of spatial information science;
to provide opportunities for training in research;
to prepare students for postgraduate research as well as for employment in research organisations; and
to provide advanced courses in selected areas of spatial information science.

65% overall for all subjects undertaken excluding work experience, physical and health education, and general studies in All India Senior School Certificate.
