Indian Institute of Technology, Jammu has recently launched its new multi-disciplinary research center and a new campus which was inaugurated by Home Minister Amit Shah on October 24, 2021. 

Indian Institute of Technology, Jammu's research center, and a new campus were built at the cost of INR 210 crore. The budget includes the cost of both phase 1A and 1B of the permanent campus of the institute. 

Along with the new campus and research center, the Home Minister also laid the foundation stone of IIT Jammu's permanent campus construction last phase. The total cost of the campus is said to be around Rs 700.19 crore.

IIT Jammu, Home Minister Amit Shah’s official tweet reads, “The education of Kashmiri youth has been the top priority of prime minister Narendra Modi, and the new campus of IIT Jammu embodies the determination of the Modi government to develop education in the state."

While addressing the IIT Jammu's inauguration, Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education official tweeted, “Phase 1A & 1B of @IITJammu has been developed with a total cost of ₹210 Cr. Phase 1C is estimated to be developed with a total cost of over ₹700.19 crores".

The newly inaugurated campus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Jammu will include the best facilities for students such as a hostel, gymnasium, indoor games, etc.

In addition to the new changes in the institute, the IIT Jammu has collaborated with the Indian Institute of Management, Jammu, and Tunnel Engineering for Infrastructure Development in the Himalayas to offer joint degree programs for engineering students. 

Referring to the initiative of IIT Jammu, the Education Minister said, "The institute of national importance will transform the higher education landscape and usher in a new era of development in J&K—the crown of India.".

"I am happy to share that IIT Jammu is committed to building a humanistic, futuristic, and inter-disciplinary environment in line with the NEP" he further added.
